Adjustable Voltage and Current Protection for Three-Phase Supplies
The Potric POVD 3-Phase Digital Voltage Protector watches the voltage and current on each phase and disconnects your load when they leave the limits you set. When the supply returns to normal, it reconnects automatically after an adjustable delay. This helps protect pumps, compressors, motors, air conditioners, and electronics from voltage surges, voltage drops, phase faults, and overloads.
The dual-row digital display shows voltage on the top row and current on the bottom row for L1, L2, and L3 together, so you can read the state of your supply at a glance. Indicator lights show power, over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-current conditions.
Protection and Functions
- Over-voltage protection and recovery: set the cut-off and reconnect voltage, with its own action time and recovery delay.
- Under-voltage protection and recovery: set the cut-off and reconnect voltage, with its own action time and recovery delay.
- Over-current protection: set the current limit, action time, and recovery delay.
- Continuous over-current lockout: after a chosen number of repeated over-current trips, the output stays off.
- Three-phase voltage unbalance protection: trips when the difference between phases is too large. It can be switched on or off.
- Phase sequence protection: prevents the output from switching on when phases are connected in the wrong order. It can be switched on or off.
- Power-on delay: protects compressors and motors from repeated start-ups.
- Voltage and current calibration: fine-tune the readings by up to ±9.5%.
Key Features
- 100A rating for main supply or heavy three-phase loads
- Two versions: 380V AC and 220V AC three-phase systems
- Dual-row display of voltage and current for all three phases
- Wide adjustable limits and delays set from the front panel
- 3NO output contacts with automatic reconnection once the supply is stable
- Compact DIN rail design with N, L1, L2, L3 input and output terminals
Choosing the Right Version
- 380V AC: for three-phase systems rated 380V.
- 220V AC: for three-phase systems rated 220V.
Always match the version to your supply voltage and the rating to your load and cable size, as specified by a qualified electrician.
Typical Applications
- Three-phase motors, pumps, and compressors
- Air conditioning and refrigeration systems
- Workshops, small factories, and commercial buildings
- Distribution boards in areas with unstable mains supply
Installation Note
Install a suitable four-pole breaker upstream of the protector and connect the load to the OUT terminals, as shown in the wiring diagram supplied with the product.
Important Note
This device protects against voltage and current abnormalities. It does not replace a circuit breaker or an RCD. Use it together with a suitable MCB, MCCB, or RCBO for short-circuit and electric shock protection.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if the phases are connected in the wrong order?
With phase sequence protection switched on, the protector keeps the output off until the wiring is corrected.
Will power return automatically after a fault?
Yes. Power returns after the recovery delay once the supply is back within range. If continuous over-current protection is enabled, the output stays off after the set number of repeated over-current trips.
Can I change the protection limits?
Yes. Voltage limits, current limit, delays, and calibration are all adjustable from the front panel.
Can I use it on a single-phase supply?
No. This model is for three-phase systems. See our single-phase POVD protector for single-phase supplies.
Does it replace my circuit breaker?
No. Use it together with your breaker for complete protection.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
Yes. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local regulations.
