Adjustable Voltage and Current Protection with Automatic Reconnection
The Potric POVD Digital Voltage Protector is an intelligent protector that combines over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-current protection in one device. If the line voltage or current goes out of the limits you set, it powers off the line immediately to prevent your electrical equipment from being burnt. When the supply returns to normal, it reconnects automatically after a time delay.
The dual digital display shows live voltage and current at the same time, so you can check your supply at a glance without a separate meter. Indicator lights show power, over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-current conditions.
15 Functions
- Over-voltage protection: disconnects the load when voltage rises above the set limit.
- Over-voltage recovery: sets the voltage at which power is restored.
- Under-voltage protection: disconnects the load when voltage falls below the set limit.
- Under-voltage recovery: sets the voltage at which power is restored.
- Voltage trip time: avoids nuisance trips from very brief fluctuations.
- Over-current protection: cuts power when current exceeds the set value.
- Over-current trip time: adjustable delay before the over-current trip.
- Continuous over-current counter: after a chosen number of repeated over-current trips, the output stays off.
- Power-on delay: waits before first connecting the load.
- Recovery delay: waits before reconnecting after a fault, which protects compressors and motors.
- Voltage calibration: fine-tune the displayed voltage by up to ±10%.
- Current calibration: fine-tune the displayed current by up to ±10%.
- Fast power-down protection: can be switched on or off.
- Automatic reset: can be switched on or off.
- Manual ON/OFF switch function: turn the output on or off from the front panel.
Key Features
- 63A and 80A ratings: suited to whole-home supply or heavy-load circuits.
- Dual digital display: voltage and current visible together.
- Wide adjustable limits: over-voltage 130-300V and under-voltage 80-210V.
- Transient protection: helps protect equipment from false operation during transient over-voltage.
- Protection against unstable supply: disconnects the line during sudden power-off and power-on caused by loose connections or other faults.
- Built to withstand fault peaks: the protector itself is not damaged when the line fault voltage reaches its peak.
- Low power consumption: only 2W.
- Long service life: 2,100,000 electrical and mechanical cycles.
- Compact design: 37mm wide, DIN rail mounting.
Choosing the Right Rating
- 63A: suitable for most homes, apartments, and shops.
- 80A: suitable for larger homes and heavier loads, provided the cable and installation are rated for it.
Always match the rating to the load and cable cross-section, as specified by a qualified electrician.
Typical Applications
- Homes and apartments with unstable mains voltage
- Air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers
- Water pumps and water heaters
- Shops, offices, and small workshops
Installation Note
Connect the supply to the top (IN) terminals and the load to the bottom (OUT) terminals. Install a suitable MCB or main switch upstream of the protector, as shown in the wiring diagram supplied with the product.
Operating Conditions
Use in an environment with no harmful gases or vapours, no conductive or explosive dust, and no severe mechanical vibration. Altitude up to 2000m.
Important Note
A voltage protector guards against voltage and current abnormalities. It does not replace a circuit breaker or an RCD. For short-circuit and electric shock protection, use it together with a suitable MCB or RCBO.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a voltage protector do?
It disconnects your equipment when the supply voltage or current is outside the set limits, and reconnects it when the supply is safe again.
Why is the recovery delay important?
Compressors in air conditioners and refrigerators can be damaged if power returns and drops repeatedly. The delay gives them time to stabilise.
Can I change the protection limits?
Yes. Voltage limits, current limit, delays, and calibration are adjustable from the front-panel keys.
Can I use it with a three-phase supply?
No. This model is for single-phase systems. See our three-phase POVD protectors for three-phase supplies.
Does it replace my circuit breaker?
No. Use it together with your MCB or RCBO for complete protection.
Do I need an electrician to install it?
Yes. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local regulations.
